You have chosen the SUV you like, but there is still another decision: which trim should you buy? The entry version may already cover your needs, while the higher trims add equipment that makes the upgrade tempting.
This guide explains how to compare SUV trims, decide which extras matter for driving in Dubai, and work out whether the top version deserves a place on your shortlist.

Start with What Actually Changes
A trim is an equipment version of the same model. Moving up the range can add comfort features, different interior finishes, extra driver assistance systems or a different drivetrain. It does not always mean more engine power.
For example, the JAECOO J7 trim specifications list the same 1.6 TGDI engine, seven-speed DCT and 197 hp across Comfort, Luxury and Flagship. However, Comfort and Luxury have front-wheel drive, while Flagship has all-wheel drive.
That makes the decision more useful than simply choosing the most expensive version. You can ask whether the additional equipment suits how you actually use the car.
Always compare the specification sheets for the exact UAE model year and trim you are considering. A feature shown in a model’s promotional images may not be included in every version.

Which Extras Will You Use Every Day?
Think about a normal week behind the wheel. Where do you park? How long is your commute? Does someone else regularly drive the car?
If you frequently park in tight spaces, compare the cameras and parking sensors fitted to each trim. Do not assume you need the top version to get the equipment you want. On the J7, for instance, the listed Comfort specification already includes a 540° Around View camera, while Luxury adds front parking sensors alongside the rear sensors.
Cabin features deserve the same attention. Try the seat adjustments, check how easily you can reach the controls, and connect your phone. If an upgraded sound system is part of the price difference, listen to it with music you know.
Make a short list of features you would use regularly. That gives you a clearer basis for choosing than the length of the equipment list.
Check Safety Equipment Separately
Give safety features their own comparison. Check the airbags and the specific driver assistance functions included in each version.
Ask the showroom team to explain any unfamiliar terms and demonstrate how the available systems operate. A broad description such as “advanced safety technology” does not tell you which functions are fitted to the car you are buying.
If a particular feature is a priority, confirm it on the written specification for your chosen trim.
Compare the Full Price Difference
Ask for written quotes for both versions, with the same items included, so the difference is clear. Check the vehicle price, any accessories, and the applicable service or warranty package.
Then return to your list of priorities. Does the upgrade add several things you will appreciate every day, or mainly finishes and equipment you could comfortably do without?
Personal enjoyment counts too. If you love the upgraded interior and the price fits your budget, that is a reasonable consideration. The important part is knowing what you are paying for.

See Both Versions Before Deciding
Where possible, view the trims together at our OMODA & JAECOO showrooms in Dubai. Sit inside each one and ask the team to walk you through the differences.
When you book an SUV test drive, mention the trim you are considering and confirm which version will be available.
The top trim is worth considering when its extra equipment matches your priorities and the price is comfortable. If a lower version already includes what you need, it may be the right choice for you.
